ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS: GE-Reagan Foundation Scholars candidates must:

•demonstrate exemplary leadership, drive, integrity, and citizenship at school, at home, at the workplace, and within the community;
•be nominated by an eligible community leader, such as a high school principal, elected official or executive director of a nonprofit organization;
•be recommended by an authority figure, such as a student activity advisor, community service coordinator, coach, employer, teacher, counselor or religious leader;
•demonstrate strong academic performance (3.0 or greater GPA or equivalent);
•demonstrate financial need;
•be a citizen of the United States of America;
•graduate from high school in Winter 2011 or Spring 2012; and
•use scholarship funds for student tuition, room, and board while pursuing a bachelor’s degree at an accredited U.S. college or university in Fall 2012.

SCHOLARSHIP DETAILS: The GE-Reagan Foundation Scholarship Program honors the legacy and character of our nation's 40th President by rewarding college-bound students who demonstrate exemplary leadership, drive, integrity, and citizenship with financial assistance to pursue higher education. Through the generous support of GE, this national program annually awards $10,000 renewable scholarships to numerous students.

SCHOLARSHIP DETAILS: The High School Scholarship Program is designed to assist high school students of Hispanic heritage obtain a college degree. It is available to graduating high school seniors who plan to enroll full-time at a community college or four-year institution during the upcoming academic year. Award amounts range from $1,000 to $2,500.

GATES MILLENNIUM SCHOLARS 2012

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS: • Are African American, American Indian/Alaska Native*, Asian Pacific Islander American** or Hispanic American

• Have attained a cumulative high school GPA of 3.3 on an unweighted 4.0 scale or have earned a GED

SCHOLARSHIP DETAILS: The Gates Millennium Scholars Program (GMS), funded by a grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, was established in 1999 to provide outstanding, low income African American, American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian Pacific Islander American, and Hispanic American students with an opportunity to complete an undergraduate college education in any discipline area of interest.

Violet Richardson Award for an Outstanding Girl Teen Volunteer

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must be between the ages of 14-17 by December 1, 2011. Applicants are requested to submit an essay of no more than 750 words per the instructions. Applications can be submitted by e-mail or mail and can be handwritten or typed. Receipt of all applications will be acknowledged and winners will be announced by mid-January 2012.

SCHOLARSHIP DETAILS: The Violet Richardson Award program begins at the local Soroptimist club level, where the type of award varies. Club level winners then become eligible for one of 28 $1,000 awards. In addition, $1,000 will be contributed in honor of these winners to their volunteer organizations. One finalist will be chosen from among the 28 winners for an additional award, including a contribution of $2,500 to the finalist’s volunteer organization.

VFW Voice of Democracy Contest

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS: The Voice of Democracy Program is open to students in grades 9-12, who are enrolled in a public, private or parochial high school or home study program in the United States and its territories.

SCHOLARSHIP DETAILS: Students should first draft their essay based on the 2011-2012 theme: "Is There Pride in Serving in Our Military?" Students should then record their reading of the draft to a CD. The recording should be no shorter than 3 minutes and no longer than 5 minutes (plus or minus 5 seconds).

Entries begin at the Post level. Once the student has created their essay and completed burning the audio version to a CD, they should submit their typed version, CD and the Voice of Democracy entry form to their local participating VFW Post no later than November 1, 2011.

Central Intelligence Agency Undergraduate Scholarship Program

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS: The Scholar Program is extremely competitive. We ask that all applicants meet the following requirements:
US citizenship
18 years of age by April 1 of your senior year
1500 SAT (1000 Math & Critical Reading, 500 Writing) or 21 ACT scores or higher (high school students)
3.0/4.0 scale high school or college GPA or higher
Financial need as demonstrated by the household income ceiling up to $70,000 for a family of four, and $80,000 for a family of five or more
Meet the same employment standards as permanent employees, successfully completing both security and medical processing
Available to work in the Washington, DC area during your periods of employment

SCHOLARSHIP DETAILS: The Undergraduate Scholar Program was developed, in part, to assist minority and disabled students, but application is open to all students who meet the requirements. The program offers unmatched experience. You'll complete work sessions during each summer break, increasing your knowledge and job responsibilities while assisting intelligence professionals and applying your academic skills.

We believe in challenging our Scholars with meaningful work that relates to their college major. An IT major, for example, might be given increasingly complex projects involving sophisticated computer systems. An engineering major might help produce a piece of state-of-the-art equipment. A finance major could be involved in developing and analyzing budgets for a worldwide operation. A foreign language major might be instrumental in translating documents for US policymakers. As a final example, a human resource major could have the opportunity to develop and implement personnel policies and procedures.

Once selected, you will be given an annual salary; a benefits package that includes health insurance, life insurance, and retirement; and up to $18,000 per calendar year for tuition, mandatory fees, books and supplies. You'll be required to work at an Agency facility during summer breaks and to maintain full-time college status during the school year with a minimum cumulative 3.0/4.0 GPA.We will pay the cost of transportation between school and the Washington, DC area each summer and provide a housing allowance.

Because the Scholar Program is an investment in you, accepting an offer means making a career choice. We ask that you agree to continue employment with the Agency after college graduation for a period equal to 1.5 times the length of your college sponsorship.

Ron Brown Scholarship Program

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS: Must be an African American high school senior and a U.S. citizen or permanent resident. For African American high school seniors who demonstrate academic merit, leadership, community service, and financial need.

SCHOLARSHIP DETAILS: Each year, a minimum of ten students will be designated Ron Brown Scholars and will receive $10,000 annually for four years, for a total of $40,000. The recipients may use the renewable scholarships to attend an accredited four-year college or university of their choice within the United States. Ron Brown Scholarships are not limited to any specific field or career objective and may be used to pursue any academic discipline. More than 250 students have been designated as Ron Brown Scholars since the inception of the Program.

Ron Brown Scholars are selected in the spring prior to entering college. Applications are screened during the month of February by Ron Brown Scholar Program staff. In March, finalists are invited to participate in a weekend selection process in Washington, D.C. at the expense of the CAP Charitable Foundation. Finalists are interviewed by members of the Ron Brown Selection Committee and are expected to participate in several Selection Weekend activities. Scholarship winners are selected on the basis of their applications, interviews and participation in Selection Weekend activities. Notification follows immediately

Bill Gates Announces 2012 Scholarship Program For Low-Income Minority Students -- Gates' non-profit organization is giving away 1,000 Scholarships for the 2011-2012 school season -- Click here to go to the Gates Millennium Scholars Program Application.

The Gates Millennium Scholarship Program (GMS) will select 1,000 talented students next year to receive a good-through-graduation scholarship to use at any college or university of their choice. Scholars will also be provided with personal and professional development through their leadership programs, along with academic support throughout their college e career.

The program, funded by a grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, was established to provide outstanding low income minority students with an opportunity to complete an undergraduate college education in any discipline area of interest. To date, the program has given scholarships to more than 15,000 students. Continuing scholars may request funding for a graduate degree program in one of the following discipline areas: education, engineering, library science, mathematics, public health or science.

PRUDENTIAL SPIRIT OF COMMUNITY AWARDS

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS: The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards honor young people in middle level and high school grades for outstanding volunteer service to their communities.

SCHOLARSHIP DETAILS: Local Honorees receive a Certificate of Achievement from their schools or organizations. Those who qualify (50 hours of service for age 14 and younger, 100 hours for those older) also receive the President's Volunteer Service Award.
State Honorees receive an award of $1,000, an engraved silver medallion, and an all-expenses-paid trip with a parent or guardian to Washington, D.C., for national recognition events.
